Registry Fix Review Does Registry Fix Work?
By Rick Caroll
Although not as popular as the big two registry cleaners, Registry Mechanic and RegCure, Registry Fix still remains popular. People still look for reviews of this product, so we decided to test it out and compare it against our top choice registry cleaner, RegCure.
Registry Fix Specs Registry Fix Review
Publisher
Registry Fix is a standalone product. When we looked for a publisher we could only find references to "RegistryFix.com" as a source for all the copyright and legal notices on the site. This is a slight cause for skepticism since we recommend only using programs from credible software companies.
Operating System Compatibility
Registry Fix is compatible with all versions of Windows. It does not display that it is certified to work with Windows Vista, however.
Features
Extra features that Registry Fix offers are:
- Full Registry Backup Utility - Helps easily make backup copies of your registry.
- Add / Remove Program Manager - Lets you uninstall software from your PC (already available in any Windows operating system.)
- Startup Program Manager - Helps you limit the amount of programs that load when you boot up Windows.
- Browser Helper Manager - Helps to disable toolbars and other similar programs.
Our Test Registry Fix Review
Download And Installation
Registry Fix is only available by downloading it from the official website.
The installation file is small, and shouldn't take a long time to download. Installation was quick and easy.
Interface
The interface is very basic and plain. Compared to the other leading registry cleaner applications it almost looks a little "cheap." However, this is purely cosmetic. The lack of fancy skins and buttons on the program is probably a good thing and will be good for those with slower computers.
The Scan
Four our Registry Fix review we ran a test scan with the program. The scan runs quickly and we felt that it did a good job.
The only hesitation we have is that the scan seems to be a bit overzealous. It found more bad entries than Regisry Mechanic and RegCure, but we felt that some of these entries did not necessarily have to be removed from the computer. This is a slight cause for concern, as the program might end up removing important entries from your PC.
Other Features
Registry Fix doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles. There are no system monitors and registry compactors, however most of those features aren't really necessary anyway. Registry Fix has the most basic features that are necessary to do a thorough and safe job of cleaning out the registry.
The browser helper manager is a good feature, although most people won't really need it. We did think that the registry backup utility was very good.
Conclusions Registry Fix Review
Registry Fix does the job it was designed to do, and as far as cleaning the registry it does an acceptable job. If you've been reading about Registry Fix and were thinking about buying it, I would say that you're probably fine with that program.
However, I'd say that RegCure by ParetoLogic Software is a more stable and trustworthy program all around. It's also produced by a company that makes other software titles, so we feel it might be a safer investment. Check out our RegCure review here.
